Add testimonials to your WordPress website with Easy Testimonials

Hello friends,

Do you want to increase your brand awareness and conversions rates and attract more customers to your WordPress website? I am sure that you do! So in today’s post I will be talking about testimonials – why are they needed as a social proofing tool and how can they help you. I will also make a review of one easy to use WordPress plugin that is created for this purpose.

So let’s see how you can add testimonials to your WordPress website with Easy Testimonials.

First things – first! Why testimonials are important and why should you have them on your website?

Testimonials are know to beat any other type of content marketing in terms of effectiveness. The reason for this is simple. Nowadays the Internet is huge and you can purchase goods and services from a vast amount of websites. However some of them are made just to scam the customers and to take their money by providing inadequate services or low-quality goods. The good news is that most websites are not aiming at this! Their owners understand that profitable business is based on the foundations of trust. That is why they want to provide their customers with the best quality of both goods and services.

But how to convince customers that your website is one of the “good guys” and what you are aiming to sell is with the best quality and optimal price? By doing some marketing and PR. And to be more specific – you’d want to pay special attention to content marketing by providing your customers with reviews, blog posts, etc. And of course you’d want to display testimonials from happy customers that have already made purchases and were more than satisfied.

These testimonials will be telling your new customers a couple of things. First – this website is genuine and I will not get scammed here. Second – I will know exactly what to search for and what to purchase from this website.

Of course the latter usage of testimonials is related to websites that aim to sell goods from different manufacturers.

In most cases you’d want to display testimonials for the first reason – so that your new customers can be attracted.

Let’s not forget that testimonials are a sure way of increasing conversions rates on your website, when used correctly and effectively!

How to add testimonials on WordPress with Easy Testimonials?

Download and install the plugin. Then activate it and head to the new menu called Testimonials in your WordPress admin panel. From there you can see your already created testimonials, add new ones and manage their categories.

Each testimonial can be created by using the WordPress visual or text editors. You can add the content and format it according to your needs. After this you can add some information about the customer who has given this testimonial. You will be able to add:

Each testimonial can have a specific category or categories. Adding them is similar to adding categories to your WordPress posts. You can choose from the existing ones or add a new one. You can also add a featured image for the testimonial. When you are done editing/creating it you can use the generated shortcode in order to display it on a specific post or page on your WordPress website.

Create/Edit a testimonial

If you want to edit the plugin’s settings you have to go to another newly created menu in the WordPress admin panel. It will be called Easy Testimonials Settings. It contains several sub-menus:

The plugin also provides a widget for displaying random testimonials. It can be added to any of your WordPress widget areas and you can configure its behavior as well.

Another widget is also available. It is called Testimonial Cycle Widget and it can display testimonials in a slideshow.

There is also a Testimonial List Widget that will display testimonials as lists.

If you want to display only a single testimonial – there is also a widget for this. And another one if you want to display testimonials in a grid.

Easy Testimonials is a free plugin. However it also has a professional version that unlocks all of its capabilities. For example the submission form for your customers and users. They will be able to write the content by themselves and also upload images with testimonials. This form can be integrated with captcha plugins so that you can be protected from spam. The PRO version also provides you with many other benefits as well. Make sure that you check them out in the WordPress.org page of the plugin.

Easy Testimonials is also SEO friendly. The plugin uses uses schema.org compliant JSON-LD markup, so that your testimonials appear correctly in search results. Let’s not forget that the testimonial content is also adding additional text and images for indexation purposes as well.

So what do you think, friends? Will you use Easy Testimonials on your WordPress website? Share any thoughts and questions in the comment section below.

See you soon, friends!

Polylang – a way to create bilingual or multilingual WordPress site

Hello friends,

In this post I will show you another great alternative to the popular WPML plugin. By using it you will be able to have different language versions of your website so that you can target different audiences.

This solution is called Polylang and it is another way to create bilingual or multilingual WordPress site.

Polylang - WordPress Plugin for managing different languages and translations of your website

What does Polylang do exactly?

Polylang makes it extremely easy to create content in any language. For this purpose you only need to download and install the plugin and then activate it. After this is done you can start writing your new post. Let’s assume that your default language (before installing Polylang) for WordPress is English. However you want to create a post in German language so that you can target German visitors. So simply write your new post in German language. Fill in all the needed details (for example alternative texts for images, SEO meta information, excerpts, etc) in this language as well and then save the progress. When you are done with this you can tell Polylang that this post is in German language and it will be shown only for the German version of your website. Simple as that!

And if you intend to translate it later – no problem! Polylang will allow you to do just this if you wish. However bear in mind that this step is considered to be optional. But what is more important is that you will be able to make translations not only from the main language of your WordPress website to another one, but also from any secondary language as well.

If you have ever used WPML for the purpose of creation bilingual or multilingual WordPress site, then you will be happy to notice that the functionality and the way of usage of Polylang is similar. This makes it easy for you if you want to change plugins for some reason.

What other features does Polylang provide?

You will be able to add as many languages as you desire. Polylang also supports RTL language scripts. Another great feature is that for each chosen language, this wonderful plugin will check for language packs and will install them automatically. If an update is available for any of them it will also be processed automatically. This ensures you that you will be always providing the latest versions of any translations.

Speaking of translations – let’s see what exactly can be translated by using Polylang. The options are many. For example you will be able to translate content in your posts and pages. This plugin will make sure that you can have a bilingual or multilingual WordPress media library as well. The translation capabilities of Polylang also apply for your categories, tags, menus and even widget content. This plugin will be able to translate additional content types as well. For example if you want to run it with WooCommerce you can have a bilingual or multilingual WordPress e-commerce website with ease. However a premium addon is required in order to allow these two plugins to work together.

But if you want to translate custom post types, custom taxonomies, sticky posts and post formats, RSS feeds and the default WordPress widgets, then you can relax! Why? Because Polylang will allow you to take care of them without any additional hassles.

When translating you can re-use the same categories and tags as well as some of the other SEO meta elements from the original post. Polylang will make sure that they will be copied over to the translated version.

Polylang sets languages based on the content of the language code in the URL. Alternatively you can use a new subdomain of domain per language. Switching languages can be done by using a customizable switcher which can be placed as a widget or as a part of your main WordPress navigation menu.

What if I want to migrate from WPML to Polylang? Is it possible?

Sure! All you have to do is install and activate the plugin WPML to Polylang and follow its instructions.

This great plugin has a PRO version as well. Make sure that you check it out as well. You can do this from the official website polylang.pro.

That’s all friends! What do you think of this great plugin? Will you use to to make your website bilingual or multilingual? Share any thoughts and questions in the comment section below.

See you soon, friends!

Various ways of embedding YouTube videos in WordPress

Hello friends,

As you know YouTube is a powerful social network that can increase your website traffic and brand awareness (if used properly). That is why it is always a good idea to consider creating your own channel and start uploading videos related to your business. These may be presentations, tutorials, reviews, etc. You should keep in mind that this channel and each of the videos, that you are going to create and upload, need to be branded appropriately with texts that contain relevant keywords and phrases. This will help for SEO as well. Also you should bear in mind that you have to follow YouTube rules when uploading video content, so make sure that you get familiar with the requirements.

So if you are really considering starting your own channel you need to be familiar with the ways of integrating your content with your website. That is why in this post I will present to you various ways of embedding YouTube videos in WordPress.

You can also find this post useful if you just want to embed content created by others to your personal blog or website.

Why do I need a guide on embedding YouTube videos in WordPress? Isn’t this supported out of the box?

You are right! WordPress does support out of the box embedding of YouTube videos (and videos from other websites). By default all you need to do is just paste the link of the video and voila – it will be added to your post or page without any problems.

However there are some cases that require a different approach than the default one. You may want to place a video at a special location on your website with special formatting. And these are the tips and tricks that you are going to find in this post.

OK – What other ways of embedding YouTube videos do exist?

The next popular method is related to the embed code that you can get from YouTube for each video. Simply right click on one and select the option to copy the embed code. Then paste it in the desired location on your WordPress website.

By default this code may look like this:

<iframe width="854" height="480" src="YOUTUBE VIDEO URL" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

You will be able to change the width and height values in this iframe. A suitable location for it may be a text widget.

Another way of embedding a YouTube video in WordPress is by using the “embed” shortcode. You can find more information about it in the WordPress Codex (click to read). This method is suitable when you want to add videos as part of your sentences. By default this is not possible as any additional text that wraps the oEmbed code will be considered as part of it and you will encounter an error. But the “embed” shortcode fixes this issue. Here is how to use this method (replace the …… with the video url and ** with [ at the beginning and respectively ] at the end for both “embed” and “/embed”) :

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit -**embed**……**/embed**. Sed semper urna et enim pulvinar faucibus.

This will add the video as part of the first sentence (as you can see the dot is placed after the embed structure).

Another method is by using Jetpack. Simply install and activate this plugin and then go to the admin panel. Select Jetpack – Settings and activate Shortcode embeds. This will allow you to easily manipulate the width and height of the video. Here is an example (again replace ** with [ at the beginning and ] at the end of the url):

**YouTube URL**&w=800&h=600

And you should be able to receive an embedded YouTube video with the desired dimensions.

Any other methods that I may find suitable for embedding YouTube videos in WordPress? Some plugins maybe?

If you thought that there are no plugins for this purpose – you thought wrong. There are various great solutions that you may use. Here are some of them:

Most (if not all) page building solutions for WordPress provide ways of embedding YouTube videos. You can easily set up different options (not only related to size but to similar videos, autoplay, etc). What is most important is that this method will allow you to place the video where you want exactly the way you want it. Without any coding, of course. How to add animated GIF files to a WordPress post – tips & tricks

Hello friends,

In this post I will be speaking of the popular animated GIF files. You will find what are they and how can they be quite useful for your audience.

But the main thing that you are going to learn are some tips and tricks about how to add animated GIF files in your WordPress posts and pages the right way.

What are animated GIF files?

Animated GIF files are a set of slides (frames) that follow each other and thus create an animated effect. These media formats can end with a loop (i.e. start from the beginning automatically) or end when the final frame has passed. The animated GIFs can be used in various cases. I will share 3 of the most common ones:

How to properly add animated GIF files to WordPress?

You can do this in several ways:

In case you want to go with the first option, you will have to bear in mind that WordPress will treat animated GIFs as ordinary GIF images. Therefore the different thumbnails that are going to be created will contain only the first frame of the file and it will not be animated at all.

So the solution here is to select ‘Full Size’ when adding the animated GIF file to your WordPress posts or pages as it will be the original one and it will contain all of its frames.

In case you decide to go with the second option you will have to find a reliable cloud solution or FTP server. Upload the files there or create a specified sub-domain for this purpose and use it as a storage for the GIF files. Then use the WordPress function to add multimedia from an external URL. Provide the link to the animated GIF file and add it to your post or page.

I need to inform you that the second option is my favorite one. It makes your website faster which is very important for SEO.

The third option is only suitable if you are using Giphy as a reliable source for great animated GIFs.

Giphypress is a great way of adding animated GIFs from Giphy to WordPress

Simply download and install the plugin and then activate it. A new icon will appear in the visual WordPress editor that will allow you to search and add files from Giphy. Simple as that!

How to optimize animated GIFs for SEO?

An animated GIF is smaller than a video file but it still needs to be optimized. Even if you go with the second option you still need each file to be as small as possible. Try to find the most suitable combination between quality and file size when creating the GIF. Remember that smaller files result in quality loss. In case the software or the tool that you are using to create the animated GIF cannot optimize it enough you can try using this great online tool called Ezgif. It is an animated GIF editor and image editor. You will be able to create and optimize animated GIFs with ease! Remember that you still need to download the optimized file as it will soon be deleted from the Ezgif server.

When you are done simply upload it either to your WordPress website or to the external solution and you are done! Simple as that and you will have animated GIFs in your posts and pages.

That’s all folks! If you have any questions please share them in the comment section below. Don’t forget to share this post in social media as well.

WP Statistics – one great solution to monitor your website

Hello friends,

In this post I will present to you one great solution that will allow you to monitor and analyze important data for your WordPress website. It comes in the form of a plugin and it is called WP Statistics.

WP Statistics - WordPress plugin for gaining important statistical data for your WordPress website

What does WP Statistics do?

Love using Google Analytics? Or maybe some other analytics solution for another search engine? Then how about Jetpack and its statistics?

In all of these cases you want one thing – to monitor when you have new website visits, from where and how much are day on a daily, monthtly (and other) basis. And this is absolutely OK since nowadays data can be considered a resource of imperative importance. So the much more data you have, the more analysis you can make and then your digital marketing strategy can be improved further for more conversions and better results in general.

In our current case WP Statistics is another way of gaining access to the precious resource that we call data. So basically the short answer to the question is that this plugin will allow you to analyze your website in terms of visits, search engine queries and other data.

That is awesome but what exactly makes WP Statistics so special?

This plugin allows you to track data without the need to depend on external services. It also tries to respect your users’ privacy whenever this is possible.

What features does WP Statistics provide for any WordPress website?

Lots! First of all this plugin will allow you to monitor the users that are currently online. This is very important as this data can allow you to track the current activity on your website.

Next WP Statistics informs you of the overall visits, visitors and page statistics so that you can know which pages gain higher visits and which are not performing so good. Thus you can take action regarding the latter and improve them.

WP Statistics analyzes the search queries and redirects from the major players on the search engine market. This is really important!

Next is the possibility to view details about your pages. For example which browser are being used to view them and their respective versions, country based statistics, referral traffic (so that you can know who links to your website) and other information.

WP Statistics uses GeoIP location by country. And when speaking of user privacy – this plugin allows the hashing of the visitors’ IP addresses in the database. Thus their privacy is indeed protected.

However you can still monitor the visitors location and this is presented to you on a beautiful interactive map so that you can clearly see from where does your traffic come.

WP Statistics can send you emails with statistical reports if you want this. Also this plugin allows the limitation of the access to the precious data it has collected to specific user roles. This means that if you have multiple users on your WordPress website and you don’t want anyone of them to be able to see your stats, then you simply can hide this information from some of them, while the ones who do need to view it and analyze it (for example your digital marketging and SEO team) will be able to do this without any problems.

WP Statistics also allows you to filter your data collection so that it can be as precise as possible. You don’t want to count your own visits, right? Also you may want to exclude common robots from the data collection as well. Well this plugin will allow you to do this. There are also other criteria from which you can choose in order to clean up your data by leaving only the important visits in it – i.e. the ones that will result in conversions.

WP Statistics can also export your precious data in the form of XML, CSV or TSV files. This is extremely valuable as this can be used with other SEO and digital marketing tools. This plugin also supports shortcodes and widgets in case you want to share some of the data publicly with your visitors. Also there are dashboard widgets for the admin area as well.

WP Statistics - a great way of monitoring your WordPress website for visits and other statistical data

What if I need help for working with WP Statistics?

The plugin comes with a comprehensive admin manual that will allow you to understand how it works. Also you can ask for support in the official WordPress.org page of WP Statistics.

How to get this plugin working?

Begin by downloading and installing it. Then you need to activate WP Statistics and adjust its settings. The user manual will help you for this. The plugin can be downloaded from WordPress.org or by using the plugin installer system in the admin panel of your own website.

That’s all friends! Will you give WP Statistics a try? Share any thoughts and questions in the comment section below.

Breadcrumbs in WordPress – what are they and how to enable them

Hello friends,

In this post I will present to you the idea behind one popular and important link navigation for any website. This structure is called breadcrumbs.

What are breadcrumbs?

Have you ever read Hansel and Gretel? If so you are familiar with the trail of breadcrumbs that they leave behind in order to find their way back to their house. Well, the idea is similar when we are viewing breadcrumbs as a navigation structure for WordPress and any other website in general.

Of course your visitors won’t get lost when they reach one page or another and they can always find a way back to the homepage. However the idea here is to make it as easy and convenient as possible for them to go back to any previous page in the trail with just one click.

Imagine the following situation: You have a blog post called “blog-post1” under the category “category-1”. This category has a page that any user can access and see all blog posts under it. Your WordPress website is set to have the following URL structure:

domain-name/category-1/blog-post1

Then a good idea for a breadcrumb navigation will be the possibility to provide a trail for all of these pages that displays their names instead of URL strings.

For example:

Home Page > Category 1 > Blog Post 1

Then any user that is currently on Blog Post 1 can with one click return to the category page or to the home page if needed. Now imagine this situation in a more complex environment where under one main page there are several sub-pages and each of them have their own sub-pages. In this case a breadcrumb navigation is not only convenient but in my opinion also needed.

Why breadcrumbs are also extremely useful for SEO?

The bots are crawling your WordPress website. You want them to be able to reach any page or post with ease so that it can get indexed and ranked. That is why there is an imperative need of perfect menu and navigation structures so that the bots can be eased in their tasks as much as possible.

When you provide them with a breadcrumb navigation structure you are making it extremely easy for them to find out which page is the parent and which are its child pages. This will result in better indexation and also better ranking.

Also having a breadcrumb navigation structure will change the way your website is displayed in the search results. Instead of showing URL’s, visitors will be able to see the navigation path that the bots have indexed. This will result in an additional keywords that can be indexed. Also in this way there is better usability as the users will be able to read easily the names of the pages in the trail instead of their URL strings.

How to add breadcrumbs in WordPress?

If you are using Yoast SEO then you can use its features and enable great-looking breadcrubms.

Yoast SEO can be used to add breadcrumbs in WordPress

This can be done under SEO Settings → Advanced → Breadcrumbs. Choose the way you want to display your breadcrumbs in the fields below. Then visit this link (click here) and follow the guide in order to implement the breadcrumbs in the code of your WordPress theme. Bear in mind that this is not recommended to be done by beginners and you are encouraged to contact the theme developers for a permanent solution.

Another option is to use the plugin Breadcrumb NavXT. You can get it from WordPress.org or by using the plugin installer system in your WordPress admin panel.

Breadcrumb NavXT is another great solution for adding breadcrumbs in WordPress

A third option is to choose a theme that has a breadcrumb navigation support by default.

More speed with WP-Fastest Cache [Review]

Hello friends,

Today we are going to be focusing on one very important aspect for On-Page SEO – Speed! Using a caching plugin is one of the things that you need to consider if you want to improve the loading times for your WordPress posts and pages.

There are many solutions that exist for our favorite CMS. Some are extremely convenient, others – not so much. But in the end they all provide what we wanted – caching functionality. So it is not that hard to find a suitable plugin and to give it a try, right?

However the dilemma here is what is the difference between all of these solutions and why are they so many? Indeed this is the real reason why you need to look for high quality caching plugins. In a previous post I have reviewed ZenCache, so you can check it out too. There I have also mentioned the biggest players on the market – W3 Total Cache and WP Super Cache.

Today I am going to make a review on a plugin which has the bold name WP-Fastest Cache.

Is it really the “fastest” caching solution on the market?

According to the data provided on its WordPress.org page this seems very likely to be the case. Please look at the images below:

WP-Fastest Cache compared to other WordPress caching plugins

Performance comparison between WP-Fastest Cache and other high-quality WordPress caching solutions.

How does WP-Fastest Cache work?

Like any other caching plugin. WP-Fastest Cache generates static HTML files which are then served to the visitors. Therefore the server is not burdened with the need to search for the content in the MySQL database and then to use PHP in order to present it to the visitors. Thus your website achieves faster loading times for your posts and pages. Users are happy, your hosting provider is happy and your website has the possibility to rank higher (which means that you will be happy as well). A win-win situation!

What else can WP-Fastest Cache provide, besides the general caching functionality?

A very good question! WP-Fastest cache also provides the following features:

With WP-Fastest Cache you will be able to delete your cache when desired as well as the minified CSS/JS files that the plugin has generated. The latter is important when you have updated the content of the original ones.

For advanced users there is the option to add cache timeout rules.

Timeout rules for caching with WP-Fastest Cache

Another powerful feature is the exclusion of elements that you do not want to cache. For example you may disable the caching for:

Choose the type of content that you wish to exclude from caching with WP-Fastest Cache

With WP-Fastest Cache you can also add a CDN provider for even faster website!

WP-Fastest Cache can work with various CDN providers for better website speed

With this I have covered the powerful features of the FREE version of WP-Fastest Cache.

If you are interested you can download it from WordPress.org and give it a try. Another option is to use the plugin installer system in your own WordPress website.

The Premium version however gives you even more power! Make sure that you check it out on the official website of the plugin (click here). If you consider purchasing it then this can be done through a link in the free version.

So what do you think about WP-Fastest Cache, friends? Share any questions or other feedback in the comment section below.
